Principals James Cerasani and Justin Murphy met in the dorms of the Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, Georgia. They immediately began working together while they both studied Furniture Design. Additionally, James focused on Product Design while Justin also studied Metals & Jewelry. Directly after SCAD, they created an entertainment company and purchased a Haunted Plantation amusement attraction. After a successful year in the entertainment business, the pair moved to Los Angeles.

Once in LA, Justin & James began working together on freelance home customization projects for a number of clients. They formed the New California Craftsmen in 2005 to focus their varied talents on custom design and fabrication. NCAC has since worked on a wide range of projects from residential to commercial, art installation to coat hook design.
